🎶We chase misprinted lies
We face the path of time
And yet I fight
And yet I fight
This battle all alone
No one to cry to
No place to call home🎶

I always thought Nutshell by Alice In Chains as Layne’s living suicide note. Beautiful vocals & some of the most tasteful and soulful guitar playing you’ll ever hear. The singer Layne Staley died from a mixture of heroin and cocaine, known as speedball. The death certificate reads Staley’s death resulted from “an acute intoxication due to the combined effects of opiate (heroin) and cocaine.” The autopsy concluded that Staley died on April 5, two weeks before his body was found, and the same day that fellow grunge pioneer Kurt Cobain died by suicide in 1994. Staley’s death was classified as “accidental.” When I heard Layne passed I felt, “Layne wore his soul on the outside. He was luminous … too tender for this world. He was an amazing musician, an inspiration, and a comfort to so many. He made great music and gifted it to the world.” Anyone can become addicted to anything. There are many addictions in life, eating, smoking, booze, sex, pornography, the stock market, gambling, tattoos, lying, stealing, gossiping, et cetera. Addiction has a very subtle nature about it, a deceptive element, overcoming the victim before one even realizes what has happened. The nature of addiction is that a person gets sucked in before they know it, entangled hopelessly in the web of a deadly Black Widow spider. That is the nature of sin and addiction, the more you try to escape and free yourself, the more entangled you become. This is why it is so critically important that a person be born again, having the Holy Spirit coming to live within them (Romans 8:9). The very second you trust upon Yeshua/Jesus, the only begotten Son of YeHoVaH/God, your sins are forgiven and the Holy Spirit comes to indwell your body. This is the only true and lasting hope for addicts. Believe me I’ve been there! Life is too short to allow sin to overcome and ruin one’s life. The way to avoid addiction is to be aware that it can easily happen if you’re not careful. Our sicko society places all sorts of temptations, evil influences, lusts, worldly music, and other harmful things in front of our youth, while never warning them of what can happen. You never hear warnings about the consequences of fornication, abortion, pornography, homosexuality, feminism, divorce, or other sins. Instead teens are handed condemns at government schools and Planned Herodhood is invited into each school. It’s insane! The safest way to prevent becoming addicted is to have the Biblical mindset of 1st Timothy 6:8, “And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.” Hasatan’s crowd can only tempt you if you desire something. YeHoVaH/God says to be satisfied with simply food and clothing. In all honesty, you don’t need all the electronic toys and gadgets, cellphones, internet, new car, et cetera. Those who live for materialistic things are some of the most miserable, mean, and angry people in the world. Death is right around the corner. You cannot take any of it with you. Only what’s done for Yeshua/Jesus will last. Certainly it is ok to own possessions and a nice home, car, whatever, but don’t ever prioritize money, career, or things above truth, doing what’s right, treating people as you want to be treated, and obeying YeHoVaH/God with a grateful heart. Facebook friends, the most important decision you’ll ever make is where you’re going to spend eternity after the resurrection. The decision is in fact yours alone to make. I’ve already made my choice. How about you?

Personal Journey

You Don’t Have to Take The Broken Road…

TURN AROUND by Matt Maher

Track art

Young man on the side of the road
Lost and beat up with nowhere to go
Smells like a hangover from days ago
He does what he can to survive

Single mom with a dead end job
Ninety hour week just to keep what she’s got
With the bills that add up and now she’s caught
She does what she can to survive

Well, let me say
That love won’t take away the pain
But don’t be afraid
‘Cause it will never walk away

If you’re scared that you don’t matter
If you’re lost and need to be found
If you’re looking for a Savior
All you gotta do is turn around

Some turn to a bottle
Some turn to a drug
Some turn to another’s arms
But it seems like it’s never enough

Well I won’t say, that you will never fail again
But there is grace
To wash away your every sin

If you’re scared that you don’t matter
If you’re lost and need to be found
If you’re looking for a Savior
All you gotta do is turn around

No one listens to you anymore
And your heart has broken down
You don’t need to move
Love has come to you
All you gotta do is turn around
All you gotta do is turn around
Turn around

You don’t have to take the broken road
You can turn around and come back home

You don’t have to take the broken road
You can turn around and come back home

You don’t have to take the broken road
You can turn around and come back home

If you’re scared that you don’t matter
If you’re lost and need to be found
If you’re looking for a Savior
All you gotta do is turn around

No one listens to you anymore
And your heart has broken down
You don’t need to move
Love has come to you
All you gotta do is turn around
All you gotta do is turn around
