🎶It’s alright
There comes a time
Got no patience to search
For peace of mind
Layin’ low
Want to take it slow
No more hiding or
Disguising truths I’ve sold
Everyday it’s something
Hits me all so cold
Find me sittin’ by myself
No excuses, then I know🎶

This song came out in 1994, I was at the hight of my alcohol and drug use. “No Excuses” off of Alice In Chains album Jar of Flies was written by Jerry Cantrell for Layne Staley about his drug use. As I listened to this Alice In Chains song again today, I can see it being more universal than that. I think everyone has a time in their life that they just don’t have the motivation and patience to deal with others. Even family and friends. Depression and addiction is a B#tch. But if you tell people “I’m depressed” most won’t understand. They’ll take it as just an excuse to get out of doing something, or an excuse to isolate, or an excuse to get drunk and high. I think the lyrics definitely seem to fit Layne’s attitude towards the last years of his life. He knew he was depressed and a drug addict. He knew he was throwing his talent away. He didn’t want to lie and give some bullcrap excuse for his bad behavior. He, unlike most people in that position, was honest. There was “No Excuses”, so he didn’t give any. In many many ways I was just like Layne in my old life in this fallen world. The difference is I didn’t die in my depression and addiction. Today thanks to YeHoVaH/God, I’m sober, strong in my faith and even writing a book (hope to have it out soon friends) YeHoVaH/God is calling me to make an impact with my book and He has provided me the means to fulfill that calling. Even Moses didn’t feel he was qualified to do what YeHoVaH/God had called him to do. All Moses could see was his own unworthiness. To YeHoVaH/God there are “No Excuses” for not fulfilling the calling that He has put on our lives. When He calls us we can say, “I’m not ready, I’m not worthy, I can’t do it, and so on. But listen, there are “No Excuses” that matter to YeHoVaH/God. When He gives us a calling in our lives, He already has a plan for us to fulfill that calling. The only thing that holds us back is US! Facebook friends, if your fighting addiction, depression, illness or a whole host of reasons your not fulfilling your calling and making an impact. Please remember, if you have given your heart to YeHoVaH/God through Yeshua/Jesus, there are “No Excuses.” You have been given everything you need to make an impact. All you have to do is step out in faith and do it. Have you given your heart to YeHoVaH/God through Yeshua/Jesus ? Have you accepted Him as you savior and accepted His forgiveness of your sins? If the answer is yes, then make an impact for the Kingdom. If your answer is no, then give Him your heart today and join those who are making a positive impact on our world. Amen?

Daily Devotional with Mr. Jeffrey A. Hale 1.12.18 ♥

I received an email today from a friend in Iowa. He is a “New Believer.” It reads,”I would like to help others, but knowing what to say and how to say it stops me in my tracks.” So friends, how do share your simple faith without making people run and hide from you? I replied to him with one of my favorite quotes “You are what you do….Not what you say you will do.” People can spot a phony from a mile away. The absolute worst thing you can do is say one thing and do another. If you aren’t committed to applying the principles of Yeshua in your own life, you will not only be ineffective, but will be seen as insincere and phony. Most people aren’t as interested in what you say, as they are in seeing how it’s working in your life. I remember before he passed away, Johnny Cash did a stripped down version of “Personal Jesus” on his 2002 album American IV, The Man Comes Around. Martin Gore, the singer of Depeche Mode, revealed to The London Times that the band were unaware that Cash had covered this song. When they heard about the country legend’s recording, the threesome were naturally thrilled. Said Gore, “I think when you’re somebody of Johnny Cash’s caliber, you don’t ask for permission.” Cash explained why he chose to cover this song (as quoted in Mojo October 2013) “I heard that as a gospel song. And if you think of it as a gospel song, it works really well. We didn’t have any major disagreement over that song, I just heard that a couple of people had recorded it, the writer wanted me to try it, and I did, and I loved it. And I went for it.” This was inspired by Priscilla Presley’s book Elvis And Me, where she described their relationship. Martin Gore of Depeche Mode said, “It’s a song about being a Jesus for somebody else, An Example, someone to give you hope and care. It’s about how Elvis was her man and her mentor and how often that happens in love relationships, how everybody’s heart has a compassionate and caring side to it that is a supreme example to others. In my Bible reading today I found Yeshua washing his disciples feet in John 13:1-15. Yeshua shows them how to be an example how to be a “Personal Jesus” to each other. There’s nothing worse than somebody trying to preach to you about something going on in your life when all you can think about is finding a way to fix it. At that moment, the last thing you want to see is somebody carrying a Bible, acting like they know exactly what you need and how you feel. And truth be told, when they ask you to read from their Bible, you’re thinking you’d rather hit them over the head with it! This is the very scenario that makes the concept of sharing your faith so intimidating. Most people would like to help others, but knowing what to say and how to say it stops you in your tracks. So how do share your simple faith without making people run and hide from you? Facebook friends, the best way to share your faith is to be an example. People will want to know how you can be peaceful in the storm, why your kids are doing so well, why your marriage is so great, and how you know for sure about your purpose in life. And when they ask, you’ll have all kinds of great stuff to share. Being a “Personal Jesus” to some one else is what He was doing at the supper table with his disciples. Being an example is perhaps the most important thing you will do in life. Amen? https://youtu.be/jQcNiD0Z3MU

Things I learned.

It wasn’t until I was taking flowers out of the 3rd pack of tiny annuals that I began to dig a little deeper. I was growing tired of going through each of these flowers individually and caught myself in a rush to just get them in the ground and off the porch.

Then it dawned on me. Those little flowers are a teeny spec of our God’s creation…and the dirt all over my pants and in my fingernails was a part of His earth. The earth that He lent to man. The earth that I take for granted everyday and simply walk on. I slowed down as I pondered. I was handling something so tender and beautiful. This is but one example of how we can so easily get caught up in the worries of life and miss out on the precious lessons and hearing God. Not hearing Him audibly, but in Spirit deep inside.

The beauty of God is everywhere.

All of Creation from great oceans to blades of grass sing His name. And He shares it freely.

As the popular verse says “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” in John 3:16…God is love.

This love is endless and ready for you even in this moment.

Godhearu

I have a very important message for you tonight. Yes, YOU reading this 🙂

You are not a number. You have name. You have a story. You are not your past. You are precious in the eyes of the Most High. You matter. Though I don’t know you at all, it’s still personal. We are all the same deep down inside. All capable of the same crimes, yet all worthy of unconditional love…regardless of life experiences and what we’ve been told. That’s what God says. Give Him a chance and He’ll give you peace beyond understanding, heal the deepest of wounds, and make you brand new. He’s got a place ready for you in Heaven, a Mansion along the golden streets. Think about it. There’s only one way-through His Son, Jesus Christ. The bridge from the sinful flesh of man to the Father and Creator of all. You are destined for greatness. You are made for more, dear one. God bless.

When I Don’t Get What I Want

Lysa TerKeurst By LYSA TERKEURST

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)

Lysa TerKeurstHave you ever wanted something so badly your heart ached with each thought of it? It seems life would be so much better if you had that.

There would be more happiness.

More contentment.

More fulfillment.

More satisfaction.

More peace.

We can envision ourselves with this thing, this person, this opportunity. And all things are better. So, why doesn’t God give us this longing of our heart?

Because He wants us to willingly release it to Him.

Ouch.

Not the answer we want. Why would God let the aching desire linger and not make things happen? He could. He’s certainly able. But when He doesn’t, it seems unfair. Not good. Confusing.

It’s easy to get down when we’re constantly let down.

We hope this thing will happen … we’ll meet this right person … we’ll get this job … we’ll finally be healed … we’ll get that chance … we’ll see that family member turn their life around. Time and again it doesn’t happen. That’s when it’s easy to slip.

We can so easily slip into feeling a little distant from God because we feel hurt by God.

That’s what happened when the man I thought I was going to marry told me he met someone else. That’s what happened when I didn’t get the job I was so certain was going to be the answer to all my financial problems. That’s what happened when my son didn’t get into the charter school we were so certain would have been perfect for him.

But, in each of these things, I eventually had to make a choice. I could either be consumed with my unmet longing or trust the plans of our loving God.

As an offering of trust, we must give up that which could so easily bring us down.

Not give up as in a discouraged surrender. But giving up as in placing this desire in the hand of God and saying, “Either way, I will see Your answer as the good answer and walk in trust.”

The Scriptures and today’s key verse promise He rewards those who honestly seek Him: “And without faith is it impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).

Sometimes I get so consumed with seeking my unmet longings, I don’t earnestly seek Him. But then I miss out on His reward. And His reward is the only thing that will fill the void in my heart.

Yes, I still struggle with unmet desires.

But not as much today as I did yesterday.

And that is good. Not easy. But good.

Dear Lord, I sacrifice chasing what I want so I might more fully, and with more focus, chase You. I release this grip of desire. I praise You for who You are, what only You can bring, and how You will fill whatever gap this release might leave. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

TRUTH FOR TODAY:
1 Timothy 6:12, “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” (NIV)

Hebrews 12:1, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” (NLT)

My Priorities Have Changed.

The things ‘I want for Christmas’ or in this life, have changed over the years. The new & shiny, black Cadillac, the fancy home in an untouchable neighborhood by the ocean side, that private practice I’m not opening, trips to Europe or exotic islands…that’s not me anymore. I want to ride home on the wings of Angels someday..to my mansion on streets of gold, by the River of Life, flowing from the Throne of God-that is incomparable to any body of water on this earth. I don’t have to have a PhD to get in.

Amen.

Bedtime Thoughts

I’m getting sleepy!

Pajamas on, teeth brushed, almost time for reading a few pages of Paper Towns, then out like a light…but wait…

I am so grateful for the changes in my life this past year…that I have to make this an actual a post when I’d planned on only sharing an image.

I’m flooded with blessings. My grateful heart sings out tonight.

Growing closer to God is a very exciting and interesting experience. You may be hesitant to approach Him, or not. We all have our own identities, pasts, our own struggles, our own personal understanding. If you know God or seek after Him, you will find that we all have our own unique, individual relationships with The Lord.  He knows this. There’s a place inside of all of us that yearns for love. We crave it. We all want to be accepted and cared for whether we admit it or not. God is love. He created that space inside of you. In fact, He wants to be included there!

Life can be quite confusing at times, but there are answers for everything. Take forgiveness for example.

The answer is found at the foot of the Cross…

Tonight I leave my darkest fears, my biggest worries, and everything else in the hands of God. I usually unload my heart before bed in prayer and He gladly picks up my pieces. With every day that comes I am stronger than before.

You can put aside all worries, fears and doubts. Yes, you can! We can choose to know Peace-the only peace that surpasses understanding. How is the peace of God in Christ different? This type of peace holds true no matter how horrible the situation. This peace is so powerful that upon receiving it, we are made free, and able to face anything. Everything!

Faith must be tended to daily, for just as we need food to survive as human beings, our spiritual selves (our souls) thrive on the spiritual food of God’s Word, aka The Bible. Spiritual famine leads to soul sickness. No matter how much you have or how great your life seems, you will be unsatisfied until you satisfy your soul. It is very easy to get caught up in the matters of this life: finances, relationships, work, health problems and so on. A single negative thought, if held onto or obsessed on…is deadly. The very concept of faith knocks out all doubt. Doubt is absent in faith!

I will not worry about lack because I know that God has my part ready for me somewhere I may not see at the time. The decision-making that drive me nuts, and all that my heart wrestles with, are already worked out by God. If I just go to Him for guidance I will be able to find my way, perhaps not easier or more quickly, but by including God in all matters, I’m guaranteed to find the right way.

Because of Jesus, we can have confidence, knowing that God’s got it all under control.

Perhaps you will consider giving The Creator a chance, a second glance…and know that He holds it all in His hands. The answers were there before you had the questions.

Wishing sweet dreams to everyone.

Goodnight.
